Reasons why I like the Simpsons. Part 2.

Hello everyone! So, Yesterday I posted the first part of this thing, and now it`s time for the second one. Let`s continue, shall we?

The lack of realism

This pic is from psych.fullerton.edu.
As a counterweight to the realism, Simpsons also have it not. Which is a good thing. After all, if Homer and the others could die to their injuries they receive, they would`ve died after 5-8 seasons. Homer would`ve died during the 1. or the 2. season. If there wouldn`t anti-realism, the show wouldn`t be so funny or great. There wouldn`t be any Treehouses of horror, those weird jokes, meetings with God or other beings like him. Truly, The Simpsons needs the realism to step back once in a while. Many times during a single episode.
The humor

This weird picture is from mrmaloney.com
What can I write about this one. well, for starters I could mention that the show mostly has a joke every tenth second. That`s alot of jokes in 22 minutes. And so many of them are actually funny. Like for example, these ones (all by Homer):
  1. Operator! Give me the number for 911!
  2. Oh, so they have internet on computers now!
  3. Bart, with $10,000, we’d be millionaires! We could buy all kinds of useful things like…love!
  4. Just because I don’t care doesn’t mean I don’t understand.
  5. I’m normally not a praying man, but if you’re up there, please save me Superman.
  6. Son, if you really want something in this life, you have to work for it. Now quiet! They’re about to announce the lottery numbers.
(The jokes by the way, are from www.thatwasfunny.com (50 homer Simpson jokes).)
Most of them are funny, right? I think so.
Simpsons humor normally ranges from prepostrous to...prepostrous. And one of the best things about humor in Simpsons is that when you think that you`re gonna hear a joke that you`ve heard too many /a million times, the joke may change to another joke! And you might even learn something from the jokes, `cause it might really be the truth. Ok, lets move to...
The drama

(Oh, sorry, wrong picture. Which is by the way from
dvdsetshop.com.)

(This is drama. Right?) The pic is from amazon.com. Bet you`ve heard of it.
Simpsons have drama. I`m sure that if you`ve seen an episode of the series you`ve noticed this. After all, how many times has Homer done something stupid and upsetted Marge so that their marriage has almost been in the breaking point? Countless times. How many times has Bart done a prank that has actually endangered people? Even more countless times. How many times has Mr. Burns done something maxi-evil to Springfieldians? Not as many times. And how many times have the Simpsons been attacked by a hippo? Once. Yes, indeed the drama has a place in the show as strongly as humor.
All the other things (Yes, I`m finally taking up couch gags.)

The pic is from usageorge.com.
The show has had guest stars (my faforite is Alan Moore), cancellation, uncancellation, couchgags, about 100 references to other pieces of pop-and other culture, dragons, parodies of movies and tv-shows that over-rated and you shouldn`t watch,  bad episodes, etc. etc. I love all of it (expect the bad episodes)! And in the end, all you can say is, that Simpsons will go on foreever. Ok, just kidding. Everything ends eventually.
Wait, I bet you`d want to see some couch gags. well, let`s hope this works. Otherwise, you`ll have to check it on Youtube.

Hmh, apparently it works.

Those were the reasons why I like The Simpsons so much. Actually there are more reasons (it has hot women (Marge is hot! Believe it.) for example (Oh, now you know I`m a nerd. How terrible.), but lets let those be  secrets.
